Our programs are appropriate for:
- Court-ordered or probation-required participation
- Self-referred individuals seeking personal growth
- Individuals experiencing conflict at work, home, or in relationships
Classes focus on identifying anger triggers, understanding emotional patterns, and developing practical tools for managing anger in healthy, non-violent ways. Participants gain insight, accountability, and coping strategies that support lasting behavioral change.
Group settings also allow individuals to learn alongside others facing similar challenges, fostering shared understanding and support while maintaining confidentiality and clinical boundaries.
Online & Distance Learning Options
For individuals seeking flexibility, Leading Light offers online anger management classes. These courses provide the same high-quality instruction as in-person services, with the added benefit of convenience and accessibility.
Online classes allow participants to:
- Complete coursework from any location
- Learn at a structured yet flexible pace
- Meet court or probation requirements when applicable
Certificates of completion are provided upon successful completion of program requirements, when appropriate.
Our Anger Management Approach
Leading Light utilizes a Choice-Based Anger Control Model, emphasizing personal accountability, awareness, and skill development.
This model is grounded in the following principles:
- Anger is a natural emotion
- While emotions may arise automatically, behavioral responses are choices
- Awareness of triggers reduces impulsive reactions
- Understanding options empowers individuals to respond intentionally
- Addressing underlying causes—not just symptoms—supports lasting change
Participants learn that anger can be managed effectively through insight, skill-building, and intentional practice.
Court-Ordered Anger Management
Leading Light provides court-approved anger management classes and evaluations. We understand that some individuals attend as part of legal requirements rather than personal choice, and we approach this work with professionalism, respect, and clinical integrity.
Participation does not assume that an individual is “angry” or “violent.” Anger is a normal human emotion, and these classes are designed to provide tools to prevent escalation, improve judgment, and support safer outcomes.
Our clinicians and certified anger management facilitators are trained to address anger outbursts, emotional dysregulation, and related behavioral concerns using trauma-informed and evidence-based practices.
Questions to Consider Before Starting
Before beginning anger management classes, consider the following:
- How often do you experience anger or rage?
- What typically triggers your anger?
- How do you respond when anger escalates?
- What strategies do you currently use to calm yourself?
- Do you struggle with impulse control or emotional regulation?
- What would you like to gain from anger management classes?
Participants are encouraged to communicate goals and areas of concern so treatment can be as effective and relevant as possible.
Anger Management Evaluations
In some cases, a formal Anger Management Evaluation is required prior to beginning classes, unless the court or probation department has already specified the number of required sessions.
If you are unsure of your requirements, Leading Light can assist with scheduling an evaluation to determine appropriate recommendations and next steps.
