  • Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT)

    Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) is a structured, evidence-based treatment designed for individuals who experience emotional dysregulation, intense distress, and difficulties in relationships. 

    DBT services at Leading Light Behavioral Health are delivered in alignment with the core principles of the DBT model developed by Dr. Marsha Linehan and emphasize skill development and behavioral change. 

    Who This Service Is Appropriate For 

    • Individuals experiencing emotional dysregulation or chronic distress 
    • Individuals who can commit to structured, skills-based treatment 
    • Individuals who can participate consistently in treatment 
    • MBHP members who meet DBT medical necessity criteria 

    Who This Service May Not Be Appropriate For 

    • Individuals seeking unstructured or intermittent therapy 
    • Individuals unable or unwilling to participate in skills practice 
    • Individuals not eligible for MBHP services

    • A highly structured, skills-based treatment model 
    • Clear expectations and consistent treatment framework 
    • Skills training in mindfulness, distress tolerance, emotion regulation, and interpersonal effectiveness 
    • Active participation and skills practice outside of sessions

    Referral and Eligibility Notes 

    DBT services are available to MBHP members who meet clinical and medical necessity criteria. Participation requires commitment to the treatment structure. Service placement and level of care are determined through intake and clinical review.
